Toxoid

A toxid vaccine, is a vaccine that are used to prevent diseases from bacteria. In this case the bacteria is not causing the disease, instead the body is reacting to a toxin that is being secreted by the bacteria. So the vaccine contains a weakened form of the toxin so that the body can then recognize and eliminate the toxin before damage to the body occurs. If there is ever contact with the toxin outside of the vaccine the body will be much quicker and more aggressive in its response. There are only two toxoid vaccines on the current CDC schedule which is for tetanus and diphtheria both of are part of the TDaP vaccine, which requires a booster shot.(2)
